Activities

  • Call to Order and Welcome!  President Colleen Stewart called the meeting to order.

    Welcome to our members and their guests to a year of Service Above Self. “Imagine” is our mantra this year, and with your help we can be as successful this year as we have been in the past. Rotary Club of Stockton was formed in 1914 just the 92nd club worldwide. With over 1.4 million Rotarians worldwide.   Rotary International was formed by Paul Harris in Chicago in 1905. Stockton Rotary celebrated our 109 Anniversary just in February. We have a rich history in Stockton.


    Meetings are brought to you live at the Stockton Golf and Country Club.

From 1966 The Hollies “Bus Stop” written by Graham Gouldman. From 1986 Peter Gabriel “Sledgehammer” which won in 1987 MTV Best Video of the Year. From 1990 Madonna “Vogue” a part of this song has a spoken section that calls out the Golden Age of Hollywood stars.

  • Thought of the day: Heroes dinner was a huge success and was filled with emotion and gratitude for our Local Heroes. Thanks to the new proposed member Joshua Moore for donating two great door prizes each worth about $345 a piece.
  • Special Thanks to –  Set-up team, Secretary Matt Grizzle, Sergeant at Arms/Ken Steele and Monie Ky, Louis Lemos, Treasurer, Leena Mital and Michael Lara our new Editor for The Wheel, Eddie Arias- Public Image Chair and our Board of Directors and committee chairs.
  • Guests of Rotarians: Miguel Lara brought his brother Rigo Lara, Past President Gary Frush introduced Joshua Moore once more before his induction.

Rotary News

The Board recommended making some financial changes that we voted on last month. The results of the proposed changes to the fees for 2023/2024 to $375, have credit card fees incurred paid, no charges to account with 60-day past balance and comped lunches are for the speaker only and any new members for the first time. We will be having Matt give us all a quick tutorial on DacDB to find your statements and update your information on May31st.

Club Announcements

District Conference Save the Date – June 24th and its only one day conference to be held at Ironstone Winery in Murphy’s

WWII Memorial: Bob Blower is at an A’s game today but wanted all to know that he is unable to get the VFW Honor guard until late in the afternoon on Monday, May 29th and doesn’t think that going out in the blazing sun of the afternoon will bring anyone so he thinks we should cancel the event and promote it more for next year.

PE Walt Wager: He is in Melbourne currently and has sent a letter to all Stockton Rotarians for his upcoming year seeking donations for RI, SRE and any other approved Rotary fund and you should have all gotten an email from him.

Doksha Event: President Colleen is having a free social and all of Stockton Rotary is invited to her home on Thursday, June 1st so she can thank her Board and all the Rotarians who assisted her in her year. You can see flyers on the table, and she is asking for RSVP. Thanks to all of you, she’s had a fantastic year and our club is well respected and doing very well in our region.

Speaker: Rotary History presented by Frank Whitney

Frank Whitney gave a presentation on the extensive history of our club. From it’s beginnings 109 years to go to recent events. The presentation covered; how Rotary itself was founded, the prominent figures in our club, how our traditions came to be and the two Rotary International Presidents from our club,

Birthday and Anniversary Recognitions

Bill Johnson had a birthday on Sunday the 14th and he is donating $100 to RI and our darling Sharon Tweedy has a birthday this Saturday the 20th and has donated $76 to RI.
