Activities

  • Call to Order and Welcome!  President Colleen Stewart called the meeting to order.

    Welcome to our members and their guests to a year of Service Above Self. “Imagine” is our mantra this year, and with your help we can be as successful this year as we have been in the past. Rotary Club of Stockton was formed in 1914 just the 92nd club worldwide. With over 1.4 million Rotarians worldwide.   Rotary International was formed by Paul Harris in Chicago in 1905. Stockton Rotary celebrated our 109 Anniversary just in February. We have a rich history in Stockton.


    Meetings are brought to you live at the Stockton Golf and Country Club.

  • Pledge of Allegiance & Four Way Test – lead by Past President Bob Blower
  • Song of the day: “4 Way Test Song” by Past President Bob Blower
  • Thought of the day: Heroes dinner was a huge success and was filled with emotion and gratitude for our Local Heroes. Thanks to the new proposed member Joshua Moore for donating two great door prizes each worth about $345 a piece.
  • Special Thanks to –  Set-up team, Secretary Matt Grizzle, Sergeant at Arms/Ken Steele and Monie Ky, Louis Lemos, Treasurer, Leena Mital and Michael Lara our new Editor for The Wheel, Eddie Arias- Public Image Chair and our Board of Directors and committee chairs.

District Conference Save the Date – June 24th and its only one day conference to be held at Ironstone Winery in Murphy’s

Club Announcements

District Governor Elect Waqar Rizvi – Hosted on May 6th was a well attended event in Turlock and we had great participation from our club with many people wearing orange which is Waqar’s choice for color scheme for his upcoming year. When PC was asked in a marketing breakout session how she’d describe our club she said “We are a club of movers and shakers with goals for a better community that is rich in history and tradition of service and giving.” The whole room applauded.

International Grant: International Chair Sally Motta shared some photos of a project in Puerto Vallarta thoughts about international grants and how we can assist with in the future.

Golf Tournament May 12 – PP Chad Sublet is chairing this event for the first time in a few years and should be a fun Friday at the Stockton Country club and see flyer for details.

Flavor Fest: Liz Hull is seeking volunteers for this 2nd annual event that gives us funds for volunteering hours like the Asparagus Festival did and will be next month May 19-21st.  We have a video to show the fun from last year.  https://youtu.be/fiLHT7sUIus

Doksha Event: President Colleen is having a free social and all of Stockton Rotary is invited to her home on Thursday, June 1st so she can thank her Board and all the Rotarians who assisted her in her year. You can see flyers on the table, and she is asking for RSVP. Thanks to all of you, she’s had a fantastic year and our club is well respected and doing very well in our region.

Program

Speaker: Chris Elias, Executive Director SJAFCA

Chris Elias from the San Joaquin Area Flood Control Agency (SJAFCA) gave a presentation about the plan to repair and maintain Stockton Levee system. The presentation explained the current state of our levees, the impact recent weather has had on them, and the plan going forward to improve the levees. During the presentation it was explained how residents that live in the flood zone would vote on approving the new plan.

Birthday and Anniversary Recognitions

Madison Sena had a birthday Sunday, April 30th and donated $100 split between SRE & RI. Corie Stewart had a birthday May 5th and she donated $37 to RI. Henry Wong had a birthday May 7th and he is donating $125 to RI.Photos…
