Emily Ballus, Stockton Shelter for the Homeless, Board of Directors and Treasurer told us about the current shelter and stats. They are currently hosting 357 people nightly. They are a temporary shelter. They think there are approximately 941 sheltered homeless in Stockton and the Shelter provides 37% of the shelter for those without a habitat. There are unsheltered homeless at about 1355 individuals in Stockton. They are building a “Navigation Center” scheduled to be completed in June 2023 and how it is getting done so quickly is that they are building this with 22 shipping containers. It will be 2 stories and have 180 beds and will house another 13% of unsheltered homeless and this is a community-wide coordinated event. They will have a storage facility for the guests to store their belongings and they can bring their pets.
