  • Call to Order and Welcome!  President Colleen Stewart called the meeting to order.

    Welcome to our members and their guests to a year of Service Above Self. “Imagine” is our mantra this year, and with your help we can be as successful this year as we have been in the past. Rotary Club of Stockton was formed in 1914 just the 92nd club worldwide. With over 1.4 million Rotarians worldwide.   Rotary International was formed by Paul Harris in Chicago in 1905. Stockton Rotary celebrated our 108 Anniversary just in February. We have a rich history in Stockton.

Foundation update: Leonard Hansen
District Foundation Dinner was Nov 5th- It was well attended by our club with 21 club members. Kevin Kauffman was recognized as a Major Donor for the Modesto club, both Terry & Liz Hull were recognized as Major Donors each and not collectively as a couple but separate and our own Dr Serra was one of the key note speakers, speaking on Polio
Dictionary project is making progress, On Monday November 14, the last of pallet of dictionaries need to have labels put in them and then we need to box them up for individual schools and classrooms next and get them distributed. Thanks to Monie and Liz and COG who are stepping up to get this done!!!!

The Emergency Food Bank with needed donations each month and this month they are collecting boxed mashed potatoes for the holiday season. To learn what they need this month, please see their webpage at Calendar (stocktonfoodbank.org).  We truly thank you kindhearted and generous Rotarians.We  are donating turkeys for September & October so you can make arrangements for turkeys or take the easy route and give a donation and Leonard has the signup sheet for that or we are also seeking boxed mashed potatoes and stuffing.

Club Announcements

All City Thanksgiving– was a smashing success with a full room of Rotarians from all over and it was Diana Barden’s birthday and she sent us a thank you note for making her day and being so gracious 

Leonard Hansen thanked everyone for all the donations for Emergency Food Bank and they served 2000 families on Tuesday November 24th and are collecting soup for DecemberDictionary Project- Monie, Liz, Kuy, Gary, Sharon & COG have completed labeling all the dictionaries and all but 11 schools have had them delivered. Thanks for putting this one to bed!!!

Update on the El Salvador project – Marcella’s project and due to supply chain issues, the wheelchairs are delayed so the trip is being delayed until March 2023.

Christmas/Holiday Evening event- On December 7th at 5:30 pm also at Stockton Golf & Country Club in lieu of our regular lunch we will have an evening event much like last year with heavy appetizers and a non-hosted bar. More details to come but special entertainment is: Atomik Tommy McClendon performing and interviewed about being a rock star. Flyers and signup sheets on tables and cost is $28.

December 14th is the children’s luncheon for being planned also here at the club and more details to come

Salvation Army Bellringing project is going to be December 10th and we will be spreading holiday spirit at Hobby Lobby & Dillards this year, please see Monie for signups for this annual fun event

Blanket Drive for all City Rotary clubs December 13th at Lincoln Center

December Diversity Mixer for Chamber and we are all members as Rotarians has a mixer tomorrow December 1st

Presidential Project for Literacy: President Colleen sent an email to all members seeking advisors/volunteers for my President project that she is just beginning. It is involving tutoring from high school students for elementary students, and we are partnering with the Library & Literacy Foundation and San Joaquin A+ and she needs help because this is not my area of expertise-so educators and interested others, please help me and we are on the ground level currently but have funds available immediately for use. Thanks so a few of you that are volunteering for this, and she could use more for my committee. Thanks to those who have already reached out to help.

2023/2024 Election Announcement and President Nominee

  • PP Kevin Kauffman and Liz Hull has been nominated for President for 2024/2025
  • President Elect Walt Wager presented his Board for vote on December 14th at our Annual Meeting
  • Secretary Matt Grizzle announced the candidates for SRE trustees that will also be voted on December 14th

Stan Rapada ,  UOP Military & Veteran Student Center Coordinator

Introduced by:Kathy Hart

He has served in the Army, Air Force and Navy and is currently the Liaison and supporter for all Veterans that need help both physically and mentally and are enrolled at UOP.  He has been instrumental in getting housing for Veterans just off campus in UOP housing.  He has successfully had Veterans that were housebound become less reclusive and participate in life.  He assists others with educational needs and counsels them in all aspects of life.  He is a true servant for the Veteran community.
