Club Announcements

An Opportunity – Advertise in the Wheel. You will have the opportunity to again advertise your business, hobby, profession or nonprofit in  The Wheel this coming Rotary year which starts July 1.  These ads will take the format of a business card and will be approximately 2 ½”
by 1″.  Cost will be $300 for a rotary year – a very reasonable cost to get your name in front of an elite goup every week and make a contribution to our club at the same time. Please contact Graham Tweedy at 209-598-5881 or at g.tweedy@comcast.net

Help Needed ~ Volunteers needed for my Oyate Gathering. September 10,2022 is the date and the place is being changed but we have
a few places to go already in the works. I have some great talent coming and this in a unique event that will be fun and the food will be
delicious and I get a chance to introduce you to my culture. I need a committee to assist with the event and we are needing Silent
Auction items, Live Auction items and ticket sales. We are going to do another wine pull so if you could start bringing a bottle of wine for this, I
would really appreciate it.

Our local emergency food bank can always use your food donations. To learn what they need this month, please see there webpage at Calendar (stocktonfoodbank.org). Thank you for your service above self!

Mel Corren, The loquacious 98-year-old first published his book in 2011, then updated it in 2016 after being named the 2015 Stocktonian of the Year. In accepting the award from the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce and Central Valley Association of Realtors, Corren noted that his grandfather, Mendel Corren, immigrated to Stockton from Ukraine in 1901, established a family business and set a civic-minded standard for his heirs to follow.

Corren’s “Grandma Noonie” made “sangwiches” for the poor during the Depression, often recruiting her grandchildren to help.

Corren has served on the boards of the Stockton Symphony and Stockton Civic Theatre, and remains a stalwart supporter of downtown renewal.
