Activities
Call to Order and Presidents Welcome! President Waqar welcomed members and guests to the Rotary Club of Stockton-104 years of Service Above Self Serving the Community and asked everyone to greet one another to enjoy the camaraderie of Rotary!
Pledge of Allegiance & 4-Way Test – Ken Steele lead the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary 4-Way Test.
Eyes of the Tiger
Song – Songleader Raul Chavez gave us a healthy dose of acapella “Eye of the Tiger”. Composed by guitarist Frankie Sullivan and keyboardist Jim Peterik for the American rock band Survivor, it was released as a single from their third album of the same name and was the theme song for the film Rocky III, which was released a day before the single. Director Sylvester Stallone requested that it be recorded, after Queen denied him permission to use “Another One Bites the Dust”, Stallone’s original pick as the Rocky III theme. The movie version of the song contained tiger growls, something that did not appear on the album version and features original Survivor singer Dave Bickler on lead vocals.
Thought For The Day – Kris Blower spoke of how differently men and women handle adversity. Using last year’s three-week road trip up the northeast coast of Maine as her example, Kris described her version of what would happen when she became directionally challenged versus when Past-President Bob gets lost. Let’s just say Kris’s version did not include any yelling, spitting or farting.
