Tom McHugh reported a successful completion of his 200 mile bike ride.  Thanks to our support, Tom raised $3,800, towards the Sunrise Rotary Club of Santa Cruz 20th annual 200 mile bike ride which is used to raise funds for youth in Santa Cruz county.  The event this year raised over $100,000!  In total the fundraising effort has raised over $2 million, so they are now ready to break ground for the new playground.  Tom shared slides of some of the other riders including a rider he met named Bob who is almost completely paralyzed from the neck...

New member, Kevin Redick (far left) has already sponsored his first new member.  Both Kevin and President Waqar welcome Jonni Redick.  Jonni is retired from 29 years serving in the CHP.  Jonni joined the patrol as an officer at age 21 and retired as an Assistant Chief overseeing 6 Commands in Northern California.  Jonni volunteered at last week’s Heroes Park workday and looks forward to serving Stockton through Rotary in her “second shift”. “The Rotary Club of Stockton Begins the 2nd Century of Service to the Stockton Community”...

Past-President Michael Blower reports that club member Jamie Nance moved last week to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, one of the top 2 rehabilitation facilities in the state.  In addition to the punctured lungs, Jamie had 11 broken ribs, 1 seriously broken leg and a severed T-10 vertebrae.  Jamie will be using a wheelchair for now, but has a great attitude about adjusting to his new normal. There will be a fundraiser to start a Foundation to support ongoing needs for the Nance family and eventually to support other families in the future...

As 104 years ago Rotary Club of Oakland sponsored the Rotary Club of Stockton. Our club in the same spirit of Service Above Self has sponsored the newest Rotary Club of Central Stockton, chartered in 2018.   Raul Chavez (far right) with President Waqar introduced new member, Marcela Gracewski.  Marcela graduated from Sacramento State and after hitting the glass ceiling for women at a logistics company, started her own logistics firm.  Marcela loves sales and is very proud of the growth of her company in the past 8 years.  Now Marcela is excited to begin giving back to the community.
