Speaker…

Dave Mantooth-Governor, District 5220

Dave and his wife, Sally, traveled to the Philippines with a water project when they first realized the value, and the gratitude from the people, for the clean water provided by a matching grant.

The creation and implementation of projects, such as that one, are the result of club, district and Rotary International all working together. Rotary projects such as polio eradication, clean water, healthcare, literacy, among others, are an example of sustainable projects with long-lasting relationships as with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Dave reminded our membership that Stockton Rotary has made lifetime contributions of over $1 million and has been a strong leader in contributions to the Foundation.

He encouraged us to attend the Foundation Dinner, where Past RI President Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammer (2005-2006), will be the guest speaker.

The District Conference will be in Modesto in the spring of 2012. The Youth Conference will be included in this conference. The event will include many new exciting features.

Dave concluded that the challenge for every Rotarian is to find his or her passion and effect change to make a difference.

Dave Mantooth was introduced by Susan Drake.

If you wish to help in one or more of these areas please contact Susan Drake at secretary@stocktonrotary.org. We are in need of historical items for our club to include in publications and media announcements. We are asking past presidents and all our members to put on their thinking caps, search your offices and homes for historical tidbits. Please contact Frank Whitney at fwhitney@midcalbbb.org to help him in this task.

The Club will receive a rebate of 3% of purchases at SaveMart, Smart Foods, Food Max, and Lucky s. The card may also be used when purchasing pharmaceuticals. To date we have received over $1339.
