Pacific: Planning for the Future.

Dr. Maria Pallavicini came to UOP in February of this year from UC Merced. Dr. Pallavicini is a Paul Harris recipient which was presented to her by the Rotary Club of San Francisco.

She began her presentation by showing us a video of some of the alarming numbers regarding the evolution of education and technology and the speed at which both are changing.

Dr. Pallavicini told us that unfortunately many young adults are graduating from universities, even with sought after degrees like nursing and are not able to get jobs. Alumni giving to universities is also down.

Universities need to think about what the students world is going to look like in 10 to 20 years from now and to prepare now to offer the education needed to address those demands.

Dr. Pallavicini told us that colleges need to evolve and see how to better provide value to students like guaranteeing a degree in 3 or 4 years. Today s students want their materials to be in an electronic format such as electronic textbooks.

Maria Pallavicini was introduced by Joe Serra.
