Club Announcements

Robert Paoletti’s Blog Page – Robert, a member of our club, is on leave from the Stockton Police Department for a term of duty in Iraq. He will be training Iraqi police. Robert will be reporting on his activities. Please visit his page. You are encouraged to comment on his reports and thus keep in touch with him while he is absent from our club. We will alert you when Robert sends us new information.

Stockton Rotary Centennial – the date is Feb 1, 2014. We wish to make this a celebratory series of events to share a century of service with the greater Stockton community. The committee has chosen five areas of focus. They are Projects, Events, Book, History and Publicity. If you wish to help in one or more of these areas please contact Susan Drake at We are in need of historical items for our club to include in publications and media announcements. We are asking past presidents and all our members to put on their thinking caps, search your offices and homes for historical tidbits. Please contact Frank Whitney at to help him in this task.

Holiday Party – Our annual party will be held Thursday, December 10, 5:30 PM. $35 per person. Rotary Polio Trivia Bee – the Give Polio the Knockout Punch Trivia Challenge is scheduled for Saturday January 23 at 5 pm at the SOS Club in Modesto. Come and help cheer on the defending champions. All money raised will go to our polio eradication effots. Contact Susan Drake for more information and/or to register.

Mid Year Assembly and Pre Pets – Saturday, January 30 will be the Continental breakfast and registration begins at 7:30 am, the opening session is at 8:30 am at San Joaquin Office of Education. We are offering breakout sessions on a variety of topics that should be of interest to all Rotarians. Speaker at lunch is author Bill Wittach who has a great message about membership and volunteerism. Contact Susan Drake for more information and/or to register.

Holiday Food Drive for the Needy – Nick Curtin. Once again you are asked to contribute to the annual food drive for the needy of our community. We are accepting financial donation to the agency of your choice that feed the hungry during the Holiday Season. You can bring a check (made out to the charity of your choice) to the next two meetings… or sign up for a pledge and we will bill you directly. Thank you for making this food drive another success this year!

Bell Ringers – we are in need of ringers to join with Interact students at Dillards and Safeway on Pacific Avenue. Sign up sheets on our tables.

Children’s Holiday Party – Wednesday December 16. Please let Terry Hull Jr know if you plan to bring any children to this event.

PolioPlus Event – Rotary will be in the center court of the Weberstown Mall Jan. 8th-10th. We have three days to raise $5000 for PolioPlus. We will have brochures, pins, posters, maybe Motorcycle Bob and his bike and a slick video that will be on continuous play. The event will be staffed by Rotarians and Interactors and hopefully polio survivors to tell their stories. We are hoping to have short presentations on the challenges of polio and a question and answer time. We are aware that most people under a certain age are not aware that polio exists or that it was a real threat here in America not that many years ago. Contact Scott McElhinnie for more information and to volunteer to help.

Grocery Card Fundraiser Grocery rebate cards are available at the meetings. The Club will receive a rebate of 3% of purchases at SaveMart, Smart Foods, Food Max, and Lucky s. The card may also be used when purchasing pharmaceuticals. In six weeks we have raised $141.

District Conference 2010 – It is not too early to plan for next year’s conference which will be hosted by our DG Susan Drake and held at entrancing South Lake Tahoe. The club will pay for the first 20 early conference registrations We suggest you don’t miss out. Check out a video starring Kayaker Susan and Chef Dudley.
