Club Announcements

Robert Paoletti’s Blog Page – Robert, a member of our club, is on leave from the Stockton Police Department for a term of duty in Iraq. He will be training Iraqi police. Robert will be reporting on his activities. Please visit his page. You are encouraged to comment on his reports and thus keep in touch with him while he is absent from our club. We will alert you when Robert sends us new information.

Annual Fund Raiser -Cathy Dodson reports that well over $30,000 was raised with more money still being counted and commemorative glasses to sell.

Foundation Dinner will be held on October 24, 2009 in Tracy. Currently 29 signups. Let’s do our best. Plan to join us on the 24th. Auction items are needed. Dress, Black Tie Optional. Contact Susan, Scott or Michael.

Playground Equipment – Don Barry needs help again picking up playground equipment this Saturday morning at 8:30 at Laughlin Park corner of Estate and Tree Top. Contact Don at 471-3217.

Thanksgiving Luncheon – Bob Blower announced that 1st Baptist will be the gathering place for the annual Stockton City Wide Rotary luncheon on November 24th. Jean Irwin will be the speaker. Our club will be dark that week.

Stockton Thunder – save the date for an all Rotary Clubs night with the Stockton Thunder on November 15th. Game time is 4pm with a social starting at 2:30 for family, friends, Interacters and Rotaracters. Cost is $10 or $15. Signup with Kris Blower at the club.

American Samoa Tsunami Relief – Nick Curtin alerted us to the fact that Edison Interact was able to donate $2,500 to the relief efforts much of it from our clubs donation.

Rotary Reachin’ out Mingle! – You and potential Rotary members are invited to join us for a fun evening of
hors d oeuvres, no host cocktails and a why we love Rotary presentation on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 5:00 PM at Valley Brew, 157 West Adams, Stockton. Contact Renna at

Charity Allocation – The club s Charity Allocations Committee is soliciting requests for funds for the projects of deserving local charitable organizations for the 2009/2010 club year. If any members have contacts with local charities in need of funding, please refer them to Pete Gormsen at 944-0740 for funding requests funds and information regarding the selection process. The deadline for receiving completed funding applications is October 31, 2009. The application request is also available at our website. Please click here. Spring Garage Sale – Kris Blower gave us permission to put off cleaning out the garage this winter but to wait instead for spring to donate items for the Rotary Garage Sale coming this spring. Stay tuned.

Grocery Card Fundraiser Grocery rebate cards are available at the meetings. The Club will receive a rebate of 3% of purchases at SaveMart, Smart Foods, Food Max, and Lucky s.

District Conference 2010 – It is not too early to plan for next year’s conference which will be hosted by our DG Susan Drake and held at entrancing South Lake Tahoe. They have created some incentives to help us make a decision. We suggest you don’t miss out. Coming soon a video starring Kayaker Susan and Chef Dudley.
