New Member Proposed – Floyd S. Crame, New York Life, sponsored by Gary Hansen.

Speaker…

William Murray – Judge, San Joaquin County, CA

“Judicial Issues in San Joaquin County”

The court system in San Joaquin County falls under the California branch of Government and is part of the largest court system in the world.

Most of the budget is spent on employees and security.

Due to severe cutbacks the courts are looking at potential layoffs, and closing one day a week beginning in September, to cover the budget loss. Unfortunately it looks like it could get worse instead of better.

The construction of the new court house is being financed by the Statewide Construction Fund which has already allocated money to the construction of the court house. Once finished the courthouse should be the tallest building in Stockton. The primary goal in the construction of the new court house will also be security for the public and employees of the court.

The cost of the new court house is roughly 260 million and projected date for move-in is 2013.

Judge Murray was introduced by Liz Hull.
