The Wheel editor suggests that persons email their announcements to gtweedy@dgtinternetmarketing.com prior to publication of the weekly edition. This will make sure that we present your information the way you wish and not our sometimes mangled interpretation of your verbal presentation.
Robert Paoletti’s Blog Page – Robert, a member of our club, is on leave from the Stockton Police Department for a term of duty in Iraq. He will be training Iraqi police. Robert will be reporting on his activities. Please visit his page. You are encouraged to comment on his reports and thus keep in touch with him while he is absent from our club. We will alert you when Robert sends us new information.
Music in the Park - Nick Curtin – announced last week s Concert in the Park was a great success with approximately 60 Rotarians and guests in attendance.
Facebook – Gary Hansen – Stockton Rotary is now on Facebook. Check out our new page by going to facebook.com and search for “Rotary Club of Stockton”. Of course do not use the quotation marks. We intend to evolve this as you use it. Who knows where it goes but it is one more avenue for Rotarians to keep in touch and up to date on what is going on.
Annual Fund Raiser – Cathy Dodson gave us a brief presentation of the annual fundraiser event. The planned date is October 10th at Jessie’s Grove Winery and the theme is a Boots, Bales and Barbeque; $50 per person. More to follow; save the date.
Scott McElhinnie won the name the event contest, one free tickets to the event. He also won the worst name award and was given a rubber chicken.
Blood Pressure Test – President Michael announced the next blood pressure check is next week s meeting between 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Golf Tournament – Brant Fetters – the event will be at SGCC on Monday August 24. Breakfast and range balls at 8:30 AM. Shotgun start at 10:00 AM. Lunch to follow. Contact Brant Fetters or sign up at the table or go to our online calendar. A few spots are still open.
Foundation Dinner Susan Drake announced the Foundation dinner will be held on October 24, 2009 in Tracy. Distribution of envelopes with raffle tickets, counting toward a Paul Harris Fellowhip, started today.
Grocery Card Fundraiser President Michael announced grocery rebate cards will be available at the meetings. The Club will receive a rebate of 3% of purchases at SaveMart, Smart Foods, Food Max, and Lucky s.
Stockton Rotary Endowment President Michael announced that due to the current investment market conditions there will be no distributions from the Endowment this year.
District Conference 2010 – It is not too early to plan for next year’s conference which will be hosted by our DGE Susan Drake and held at entrancing South Lake Tahoe. They have created some incentives to help us make a decision. We suggest you don’t miss out. Coming soon a video starring Kayaker Susan and Chef Dudley.
