Workers’ Compensation

Costs will increase during this year despite reduction in the number of claims and claim expenses. Worker s compensation reforms have reduced the overall costs through, decreasing provider fees, new treatment guidelines, utilization reviews and chenges in the medical providers network.

Corky commented on needed healthcare reform initiatives in the US saying that they ignore several key issues such as:
administrative costs, conflicting special interests, consumer expectations, malpractice liabilities and shortage of healthcare providers.

Club Announcements

Mid Year District Assembly

President Gary announced the Assembly to be held in Merced, January 31. All members, especially new Rotarians, are encouraged to attend. You will learn a lot and have a good time doing it. Please contact Susan Drake to sign and for more information. The lub will pay your cost to attend.

Rotary Read-In

Gary Frush and Pam Wenger split the announcement about our Rotary Read-In this year on February 11th between 10:00 a.m. and 11a.m. They suggested that we could provide a book and read or buy a book and donate it. There will be a display and sales of age appropriate books at our meeting on January 28th. We need more readers. Go to our Calendar on the website and sign up.

Blood Drive

Matt Stefanac announced that we have a goal of 100 pints of blood by the end of the year. It is easy work – you get to lie down.

Mystery Bus Trip

Lloyd Debock – The trip will be to the Blackhawk Car Museum on February 28. Then to a mystery dinner. Put on your calendar and sign up at the table or online at our calendar.

Chocolate with the President

A Special Valentines Day Event. Our annual Valentines celebration on February 11 will feature our favorite speaker, Gary Putnam aka, Abraham Lincoln. More information to come. Bring your honey and join us for that special day. Also, a great day to invite guests – let’s fill the room. The cost is our regular meeting cost of $15. Lunch for widows of Stockton Rotarians will be paid for by the club.

Candy Sale

Nick Curtin – Edison Interact’s annual See’s Candy sale to raise money for their trip to Mexico to install playground equipment will start at next week’s meeting.
